Jochen Schambeck's works are extremely palpable. The physical surface is fresh, exploring the material nature of paint. One is surprised by the unexpectedly bright colors. The brashness involved borders on the grotesque yet Schambeck mixes in beautiful color applied in an experimental manner. Schambeck cakes on paint, smearing it in random directions, the end result feels like a visceral floral explosion. These works are bold, in your face and unabashedly contemporary.
